In The Name of God

Am I here to wash in the sins of humans
Am I here to find a way out
I am told that religion is the answer to doubt
Religion has a lot to pay for

So many die today in quest
Leaving behind a life of pain
Waking to their last breath
Will their souls ever rest?

In search of the perfect god
We go to the ends of the earth
But what do we find
But mistakes that ride the wind

Holy wars and clan killings
In the name of god and tragedy
Who pays the final score
None but the world’s poor

Do you know what life is
Do you know what love is
Do you know what war is
Tell me then, why we love to fight wars to live a life for nothing?

Every day brings more pain and misery
Bullets and guts spilt in the mud
We’ll turn in our graves
And we’ll wipe out our own history

In the name of god we murder sense
Slaying the unbeliever
Mutilating the innocent
Will we ever have repentance?

We search for our brothers in the sandTheir bones scattered across the sandTheir spirits call to us beyond the winds
Distant, another war begins
Humanity will never learn
We still count those unborn
Amongst the bodies of the dead
And fire another bullet into a heart torn

Tell me why in the name of god we go
In rage and blasphemy
This world is left to an end
Unless we can now rewrite our story
